This WWII stealth assassin game gets some mixed opinions from CGRHD but an overall good review because of the atmosphere and depth of detail in the environments. Use the shadows to hide and cover while you move around cool WW2 era locations like a cathedral, German submarine docks and in colorful fields. Graphically and audibly impressive, Velvet Assassin could have used some more work in controls and with the length between checkpoints. It proves to be a challenging and underrated game which should appeal to those gamers who like ninja stealth assassin third person shooter perspective video games. 12 levels makes Velvet Assassin a lengthy game that will take quite some time to complete. The red screen effect before killing someone reminds me of Manhunt.

I REALLY enjoyed this game alot. Yes the A.I. can be boneheaded but damn does it feel VERY satisfying when you clear a room full of those Nazi bastards, the music is incredibly tense and fits the game fantastically, and the graphics (especially the lighting effects) were AWESOME. Anyone interested in it I say give it a shot, its only $20 at Gamestop now.

This game really reminds me of Manhunt.They surely copied the gameplay style from there.Sneaking in the shadows,noise level,stealth assassinations.The only thing that separates Velvet Assassin from Manhunt/Manhunt 2 are the gruesome assassinations you peform in Manhunt.Otherwise,they’re the same thing.

@SlyTF1 the reviewer is right though you need a LOT of patience. Only if you really like stealth games should you get this one.

Yeah I know! Sly 2 and 3 are and always will be my favorite games of all time! Until they come out with a sly 4. PS: I think they just started writing a story for it.

this game is linear but it does remind me a bit of the first 2 splinter cells maybe even better
